Every now and then I trumble around with building visual editors. Sometimes
they are for vector graphics, sometimes raster. Sometimes for building GUIs,
sometimes for editing JSON structures. These editors are almost always for
fun and they never see the light of day. Why build a new editor when the
world already has so many. Or at least that's what I tell myself.
I'm happy to introduce you to PixelEater, a web-based pixel drawing tool
with support for layers, resizing, the
NES color palette and downloading images with integer
scaling. Try it out here. The
source is on github here.
I love symbol fonts. My new favorite is Font Awesome, an
open source font with over 300 icons. Symbol fonts are great because
they are pure vectors. They scale with everything else in your page
and look pixel perfect on any DPI display, retina or otherwise.
